The Nigeria Immigration Service, NIS, Ogun State Command, is collaborating with stakeholders to promote environmental conservation and beautification.
The NIS demonstrated its commitment at a symbolic tree-planting exercise in conjunction with the Rotary Club of Abeokuta Royal, held at the Oke Mosan, Abeokuta headquarters of the Command.
Controller of Immigration, Mrs. Olufunke Odusote, described the exercise as a legacy project symbolizing life, nature’s continuity, and posterity.
Comptroller Odusote commended the Rotary Club and other partners for their support, while encouraging officers to participate actively in sustaining the environmental preservation initiatives.
President of the Rotary Club of Abeokuta Royal, Rotarian John Ogunmuyiwa, said the project was in alignment with the Rotary Club’s global focus on environmental protection, climate action, and community development.
Also, the General Manager, Radio Nigeria Paramount FM, Abeokuta, Mrs. Oluremi Olugbenro, who planted a tree on behalf of the station, lauded the initiative as a timely step towards safeguarding the environment and called for more public enlightenment on climate-friendly practices.
Symbolic trees were also planted in honour of President Bola Ahmed Tinubu, the Minister of Interior, Dr. Olubunmi Tunji-Ojo and the Ogun State Governor, Prince Dapo Abiodun, among other dignitaries.
