Second Phase of Renewed Hope Employment Initiative Flagged Off in Ogun

The Federal Government has flagged off the second phase of the Renewed Hope Employment Initiative aimed at training over forty thousand youths in skills across the country.

Radio Nigeria Correspondent reports that the Ogun State office of the National Directorate of Employment, NDE, is collaborating with stakeholders to enhance the efforts. 

The Renewed Hope Employment Initiative, introduced by President Bola Tinubu in December 2024, has so far trained more than thirty-two thousand unemployed Nigerians in demand-driven skills across the thirty-six states and the Federal Capital Territory.

Flagging off the second phase at the Ogun State office of the National Directorate of Employment, NDE, the Director General, Mr. Silas Agara, represented by the State Coordinator, Mrs. Kehinde Osinowo, said the programme was designed to enhance economic growth, job creation and poverty alleviation.

Mr. Agara explained that over five thousand beneficiaries had already been resettled with starter packs and loans, while others were being linked to credit institutions for support.

In separate remarks, representatives of the Ministry of Labour and Employment and the Ogun State Universal Basic Education Board commended President Tinubu for creating opportunities for youths to become self-reliant.

A representative of persons with disabilities, Mr. Gabriel Emmanuel, also lauded the initiative, stressing the need for continued inclusion of people with special needs.

One of the beneficiaries of the first phase, Mafe Omolara,who testified that the training had helped her poultry business expansion efforts also called for the sustenance of the scheme.

Others from the new set of trainees in Ogun State equally expressed appreciation to the Federal Government and pledged to make the most of the opportunity.
