POLICE ARREST PDP Chairman , INEC OFFICIALS IN Ogun By-Election

By Oluewatoyin Adegoke

The Chairman of the Peoples Democratic Party in Ogun State, Mr. Abayomi Tella, has been arrested alongside a party member and two officials of the Independent National Electoral Commission, INEC, in Iperu-Remo.

They were allegedly caught with large sums of money said to be intended for influencing the by-election for the Remo Federal Constituency seat.

In a viral video, police officers were seen interrogating the INEC officials identified as Constance and Amina.

The suspects, arrested in the early hours of today, reportedly gave useful information on their roles in an alleged plot to bribe election officials and manipulate the House of Representatives poll.

Meanwhile, a PDP chieftain, Otunba Kayode Adebayo, has condemned what he described as widespread intimidation and violence during the election.
Otunba Adebayo accused security agencies of targeting opposition members instead of curbing malpractice.

The PDP had also called for an investigation into the conduct of the police and the Department of State Services, alleging that the arrest of its chairman was a deliberate move to weaken the opposition and pave the way for electoral manipulation.
