The Chairman, Ogun State Football Referees Council, OGFRC, Mr. Olatunbosun Obayemi, has advised referees in the State to shun act capable of tarnishing the image of football and maintain professionalism in their assignments.
Mr Obayemi gave the advice during the 2025 Annual Fitness and Seminar Programme held at the MKO Abiola Sports Arena, Abeokuta.
The Chairman who underscored the importance of referees in promoting the development of football in Ogun State also encouraged them to uphold the Laws of the Game and conducting themselves with integrity both on and off the field.
He explained that the programme which included a Cooper fitness test and technical seminars was designed to update referees on the latest changes introduced by the International Football Association Board, IFAB.
Resource persons at the event including retired Referee Fatimo Oyeniyi and an active NPFL referee, Mr. Oluwatobiloba Mojeed delivered practical and interactive sessions on referee fitness, technical game analysis, and adaptation to IFAB’s recent amendments.
Participants at the seminar commended the Council for the well-organized event and renewed their commitment to excellence in officiating.
The Annual Fitness and Seminar Programme attracted over 100 referees from across the state.
