For centuries, human beings have fought with one another in defence of their faith and their God/gods. Africa is not immune to this, as there has been many cases of violent religious crisis across the continent, leading to loss of lives and properties.
An Ifa priest, Babaawo Awosanmi Abe, has declared that it is impossible for any human for fight for Eledumare. He described his power as supreme which cannot be challenged by a mere mortal, hence, the futility of attempting to defend or fight for such supreme being.
Babaawo Awosanmi said that a Eledumare is powerful enough to fight for himself if he so wishes; so why do humans feel that it is their responsibility to fight for their god?
He lauds Isese faithfuls, saying that Nigerian traditional religion has never gone to war or fight in defence of their faith or deity. The core tenets of isese revolves around love for the people and peace in the society. Isese worshippers held the 2025 Isese celebration in Soka, Ibadan yesterday, and they prayed for peace and stability in the land.
While speaking on 2025 Isese celebration in Abeokuta, Prof. Wole Soyinka lamented that Africans are being misled to abandon their their indigenous knowledge system in favour of foreign practices, while other countries are returning to natural and traditional medical practices. He encouraged Africans to embrace traditional medicine and indigenous knowledge in confronting our challenges as a nation.
