Family FM lifts SWAN Oluwalogbon Electronic Media cup

The male Football team of Family FM, Abeokuta have emerged champions of the 3rd SWAN Oluwalogbon Electronic Media cup following a one nil win over the defending champions, Splash FM.

Segun Omotanbaje who emerged the highest goal scorer of the competition got the only goal of the match in the first half of the final match played at the Fun Turf stadium Kuto Abeokuta.

Ogun State Television, OGTV, thrashed their counterpart from the Consolidated chapel of the Nigeria Union of Journalists by four goals to nothing to win the bronze medals.

The final which was filled with glamour and entertainment was attended by the Minority Leader, Ogun State House of Assembly, Hon Lukmon Adeleye, Commissioner for Sports Development, Hon Wasiu Isiaka, Special Adviser to Governor Dapo Abiodun on Media, Hon Kayode Akinmade, past Leaders of SWAN in Ogun State among others.

In a remark, the special guest of honour who is also the Minority Leader, Ogun State House of Assembly, Hon Lukmon Adeleye acknowledged the contributions of Sports Writers Association of Nigeria to the development and promoting of sporting activities in the state.

Hon Adeleye who noted that in spite of the current economic realities in the country, sports especially football remained a unifying instrument, commended the Sports Writers for organizing the competition to create bond among various media organisations in the state.

He also applaued the efforts of Journalists for being in the vanguard of promoting human rights and dignity of the common man in the society.

Also, the Special Adviser to Governor Dapo Abiodun on Media, Hon Kayode Akinmade who was represented by a Director in the ministry of information and strategy, Mrs Florence Musa-Richard restated the commitment of the present administration in Ogun State to the development of sports in the state especially with the National Sports Festival to be held in the state next year.

Earlier, the SWAN Chairman, Comrade Michael-Azeez Ogunsiji had explained competition was organized for media practitioners in Ogun State to further promote unity and strengthen existing relationship among the personnel of various media organisations.

He commended the Mr Solomon Enilolobo for agreeing to sponsor the third edition of the competition, noting that private sector involvement in sporting activities was needed in the state.

Daniel Ademiju of Splash FM who put on brilliant saves during the competition won the best goalkeeper award while Mubarak Adeoye won the Most Valuable Player award.
