By Olátúnjí Ìdòwú

The General Overseer of Victory Life Bible Church, VLBC, Apostle Lawrence Achudume, has emphasized the crucial role of the media in deepening democracy and holding leaders accountable.

The renowned preacher and international conference speaker stated this while receiving the management of Radio Nigeria Paramount FM, Abeokuta, led by the General Manager, Mrs Oluremi Olugbenro during a courtesy visit to the headquarters of VLBC in Ogun State.

Apostle Achudume emphasized that political office holders must always remember that they occupied their positions in trust for the people and also urged Nigerians to take responsibility for the growth of their immediate environment.

He advocated the establishment of state police as a viable means of enhancing the protection of lives and property in the country, pointing out that it would be easier for someone who was familiar with the location to fish out criminals.

The religious leader expressed confidence that the appointment of a new General Manager from among the staff of Radio Nigeria Paramount FM would help to strengthen the networks and partnerships needed to make the station more vibrant.

Responding, the General Manager of Paramount FM, Mrs. Oluremi Olugbenro, said the visit was to consolidate the cordial relationship between the church and the station.

She solicited the spiritual father’s continued prayers for the uplift of Paramount FM and lauded his consistent support to the downtrodden, recalling how many needy people had benefitted from his generosity.

The highlight of the occasion was the presentation of a new car to Mrs. Olugbenro by Apostle Achudume, a gesture that excited other members of the station’s management team.

The Paramount FM General Manager was accompanied by the Heads of Programmes, Mrs. Funmi Boluwade; Administration, Mr. Olaniyi Sowunmi; Audit, Mr. Femi Osunlana; ICT, Mr. Tokunbo Dada; Engineering, Mr. Ademuyiwa Awe; News, Mr. Olatunji Idowu; Finance and Accounts, Mr. Rufus Ojo; and Marketing, Mrs. Opeyemi Ale.
