The sky blue stars of Remo Stars delivered a commanding performance in the first leg of the CAF Champions League preliminary round, defeating US Zilimadjou of Comoros 4-0 at the MKO Abiola Sport Arena in Abeokuta.
The defending NPFL champions, playing in their preferred 3-5-2 formation, asserted their dominance early, controlling every part of the pitch. The first goal came in the 12th minute from a set piece, with new signing Leonard Ngenge scoring after a defensive error by the Comoros side. The onslaught continued, and in added time of the first half, Ebuka Anthony scored from close range after a well-executed free kick.
The second half saw no let-up from the home side as another new signing, Adama Goita, extended the lead with a well-placed header in the 68th minute. The scoring was wrapped up in the 79th minute when Samson Olasupo finished coolly from 12 yards out.
Speaking after the match, Remo Stars’ Assistant Coach, Thiago Conde, expressed his satisfaction with the team’s performance, noting that their game plan was executed to perfection.
The second leg of the tie will be played on Friday, September 26, 2025, at the same venue, the MKO Abiola Sport Arena, at 4:00 PM.
