In a bid to strengthen public safety and improve access to law enforcement services, the Ogun State Police Command has unveiled a digital safety and intelligence application, Gateway Shield.
The platform, launched by the Inspector-General of Police ,Mr Kayode Egbetokun was designed to give residents swift and direct access to police services, particularly during emergencies.
Speaking with newsmen in Abeokuta, the State Police Public Relations Officer, Omolola Odutola explained that the application allows residents to report incidents, monitor safety trends, and request timely intervention on issues ranging from property disputes and traffic concerns to emergencies and violent crimes.
According to her, the initiative underscores the Ogun State Police Command’s commitment to bringing offenders to justice and sustaining peace, while the IGP described it as a bold step toward modernizing Nigeria’s policing architecture through technology, data, and citizen partnership.
The Police Spokesperson said the app, available via www.thegatewayshield.com, connects users directly to bilingual agents at the Ogun State Police Digital Center, where complaints are swiftly processed and responses coordinated from the nearest police unit
