INEC BEGINS CVR EXERCISE IN OGUN

The physical phase of the Continuous Voter Registration, CVR, exercise has commenced at the Ogun State headquarters of the Independent National Electoral Commission, INEC, in Abeokuta.

Radio Nigeria correspondent, Oluwatoyin Adegoke who monitored the exercise reports officials of the electoral body were the on ground to attend to the applicants.

Prospective voters in Ogun State trooped the INEC office to complete their registration, update personal information, transfer their voting location, or replace lost and damaged voter cards.

Some residents of the state who spoke with Radio Nigeria shared mixed views on the registration exercise, with Mrs. Yemi Shonola commending officials for their orderly conduct and steady progress, while Mr. Aliu Saheed criticized the slow pace, lamenting that many applicants spent long hours waiting to be attended to.

Other respondents who spoke with Radio Nigeria urged the commission to deploy more resources to address glitches observed during the exercise.

Reacting to the process, INEC’s Public Relations Officer, Mr. Olúdáre Àjàyí, assured residents that adequate arrangements have been made to ensure a smooth registration process.

Mr Àjàyí explained that all required equipment and personnel have been fully deployed and urged eligible voters to take advantage of the exercise to register ahead of future elections.

Mr Ajayi who appealed for patience as the exercise progresses reaffirmed the commitment of the electoral to ensure that no eligible voter is left unattended to.

He advised the prospective voters to visit INEC offices the 20 across the local government areas of the state between the hours of 9am and 3pm to register
