The Ogun State Muslim Council (OMC) has commended the management of the Federal Radio Corporation of Nigeria (FRCN) for entrusting a younger generation of broadcast professionals with leadership roles, describing it as a vote of confidence in the future of the corporation.
The commendation came in a congratulatory message to Mrs. Oluremi Olugbenro on her recent appointment as the General Manager of Paramount FM, Abeokuta.
In the statement signed by its Secretary-General, Asiwaju Kamal’deen Akintunde, the Council described the appointment as a “well-deserved elevation” that underscores Olugbenro’s outstanding track record and rich experience in the broadcast industry.
The Council noted that the appointment is in line with the growing national call for increased women’s participation in governance, as reflected in a bill currently before the National Assembly. It urged the new Paramount FM boss to justify the trust reposed in her by excelling in her new role and serving as a model for other women aspiring to leadership.
“As it is often said that ‘what a man can do, a woman can do better,’ this is a golden opportunity to prove the claim,” the statement read.
The Council also charged Mrs. Olugbenro to sustain the ethical broadcasting standards for which Paramount FM is known and to work towards restoring the station to full operational strength, following recent challenges that have led to intermittent services.
While pledging its full support and prayerful wishes, the OMC expressed optimism that the new GM will steer the station to greater heights.
